BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
On Monday, April 9th the San Benito County Superior Court issued a protective custody warrant to detain a 2 year
old juvenile dependent child. On April 16th Child Welfare staff learned that the parents and the child were in
Arizona. Staff coordinated with Child Protective
Services in Mesa, Arizona to detain the child pursuant to the
Protective Custody Warrant issued by Judge Sanders, the child was detained on April 17th. Arizona CPS notified County staff they could only legally hold the child for 72 hours, so
arrangements were made for two San Benito County CPS staff to immediately fly to Mesa, Arizona, pick up the
child and fly back on the same day. Total expenditures pending reimbursement are $1,942.73.
