BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The
San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency, Community Services and
Workforce Development has been successful in securing a non-entitlement
Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) with the City of Salinas in the amount of $190,801
for the period of April 5, 2018 through April 30, 2019.
This
grant is to benefit our homeless community through the operations of the
H.O.M.E. Resource Center and Rapid Re-housing activities. A total of $95,000 is
for the operations of the H.O.M.E. Resource Center which opened in December
2017. The H.O.M.E. provides transportation, meals, shelter, security
services and supportive services among other activities.
The
remaining $95,801 is to provide Rapid Re-housing activities to help those who
are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. The funds
will provide for a variety of assistance, including: short-term rental
assistance and housing relocation and stabilization services, including such
activities as mediation, credit counseling, security or utility deposits,
utility payments, moving cost assistance, and case management.
The
grant has been incorporated into the FY 2018-2019 budget. There is no impact to
the County General Fund and there is no match requirement.
