San Benito County.

SBC FILE NUMBER: 810

AGENDA SECTION:

Presentations and Recognitions

BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:

The month of May is recognized nationally as Mental Health Month by Consumers, Family Members, Local Mental Health Boards, County Mental Health Departments and the communities they serve. The recognition of the month of May as Mental Health Month has been a tradition for many years in San Benito County. The San Benito County Behavioral Health Department and the Local Behavioral Health Board request that the Board consider a Proclamation to recognize the month of May 2018 as Mental Health Month in San Benito County.

In recognition of the month of May as mental health month, the County Behavioral Health Department will sponsor outreach and public education opportunities through two events provided at the San Benito Farmers Market. The first event for the BH Dept. was held during the opening day for the seasonal opening of the Farmers Market, May, 2nd and we will have the second event during the Farmers Market on May 16th.

During both days events BH Dept. staff at our BH booth provide mental health outreach and educational information and we are also utilizing the events to solicit public input for the structuring of the service program priorities for our next Mental Health Services Act Plan (MHSA) update.
