BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
April 2, 2018 to April 8, 2018 has been designated National Public Health Week (NPHW) throughout the country. The 2018 NPHW theme is “Changing Our Future Together”. San Benito County’s Public Health related programs and staff, in collaboration with their many community partners, significantly contribute to promote, improve, and maintain opportunities for healthy and safe social and physical environments and prevention and containment of disease and injuries for all county residents. This year's daily themes are focused on a collaborative approach and partnerships:
Monday: Behavioral Health - a vital component of overall health.
Tuesday: Communicable Diseases - in individuals and groups.
Wednesday: Environmental Health - from restaurants to neighborhoods, parks to farms, homeless shelters to wilderness areas.
Thursday: Injury and Violence Prevention - from bicycle helmets to foster homes.
Friday: Ensuring the Right to Health - access to care and primary care provision in our community.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the proclamation designating the week of April 2, 2018 to April 8, 2018 as Public Health Week in San Benito County; and
2. Authorize the chair to sign proclamation.
