Presentations and Recognitions
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The month of May is recognized nationally as Mental Health Month by Consumers, Family Members, Local Mental Health Boards, County Mental Health Departments and the communities they serve. The recognition of the month of May as Mental Health Month has been a tradition for many years in San Benito County. The San Benito County Behavioral Health Department and the Local Behavioral Health Board request that the Board consider a Proclamation to recognize the month of May 2017 as Mental Health Month in San Benito County.
In recognition of the month of May as mental health month, the County Behavioral Health Department will sponsor outreach and public education opportunities through activities offered to our consumers and the general public. In an effort to engage the general public, there will be activities offered throughout the afternoon of Wednesday, May 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at our main Clinic Facility at the 1131 San Felipe Road site. We have arranged to have
the back parking lot of our clinic reserved for the event that will include a free Bar-BQ for the public. Also, an Information Booth, Face Painting, Cake Walk, and Other Games and entertainment will be available for the enjoyment of children and adults. Our primary goal of promoting May is Mental Health Month is mental illness stigma reduction.
