BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The Restorative Justice Demonstration Project in San Benito County through Youth Alliance and San Benito County Office of Education will focus on building positive school climate and culture using restorative practices. The strategy is to increase the capacity of participating teachers, schools, and districts to implement sustainable restorative practices and positive school climate by providing training, coaching, and technical assistance. The Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) approved funding the one time start-up costs for the Restorative Justice Demonstration Project in the total amount of $21,000 and an additional $150,000 to fund up to three (3) years a Restorative Justice Coordinator who will provide support for both the staff and students by facilitating "circles." This was approved at the CCP meeting on June 6, 2016.
AB109 Funding will be used to offset the start-up fees and offset costs to hire a Restorative Justice Coordinator for this Project so there will be no cost to the County.
