BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
CSWD has been awarded a HOPWA (Housing Opportunity for Persons with Aids) contract from the City of San Jose in the amount of $47,750 for a two year period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017. The Program is intended to provide resources and incentives to devise long-term comprehensive strategies for meeting the needs of persons with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or related diseases and their families.
CSWD will provide essential safety-net services to eligible clients in the form of renters assistance and food vouchers on a monthly basis. In addition, dental assistance is available for clients in need of this service.
The State has designated the City of San Jose as the regional administrator of the HOPWA funds for San Benito County and Bay Area Counties. The City of San Jose requires that San Benito approve and sign the contract first. They will then sign the contract and return the signed originals to San Benito HHSA.
The current year (FY15/16) expenses through March 31, 2016 are $4,756.04 with little to no activity at this time. The budget year (FY16/17) was submitted at $34,500 and will be adjusted to the full contract amount of $37,750 during final budget adjustments. No budget augmentation is needed at this time.
