CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Department of Health Care Services/Children's Medical Service (DHCS/CMS) issues agreements to county health departments to facilitate specialized medical treatment through California Children's Services (CCS)/Medi-Cal, provide for Public Health Nurse (PHN) administration, health provider oversight and follow-up on children in the Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) program. CCS provides diagnostic and treatment services and physical and occupational therapy services to children under age 21 with CCS-eligible medical conditions. CCS-eligible conditions include, but are not limited to, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, heart disease, cancer, traumatic injuries, and infectious diseases. The CHDP program provides complete health assessments for early detection and prevention of disease and disabilities in children and youth, is responsible for health-care provider oversight and quality assurance. The Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care provides nurse and medical consultation on foster children to Child Welfare Services.
This year DHCS did not complete their contracting process in adequate time to allow for proper processing at the local county level. At this time DHCS is requesting that your Board simply approve the plan that HHSA has been operating under and sign certifications that the operations are within the regulations that were called out in the prior years' contracts.
The total CMS budget is $437,827.00 coming from State and Federal funds.
