BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Staff conducted an RFP process for Janitorial Services in May since the existing contract expires this month. Two proposals were received and staff has selected Firato Janitorial as the most qualified vendor per the evaluation criteria outlined in the RFP.
Additionally, staff proposes to increase the level of service by adding office areas to the existing scope of work which currently includes only public restrooms and lobbies. Staff has received numerous concerns about the condition of office spaces since they were excluded from janitorial service several years ago. Additionally, this lack of cleaning is contributing to increased maintenance issues in many areas.
The current contract amount is approximately $94,000 annually for only public areas. The proposed contract is for $102,272.84 annually and includes all areas of County buildings. This contract also includes provisions for a one-time thorough initial cleaning of the areas that have been neglected for some time.
