BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
The July 02, 2016 effective service retirement date for Janet Norris Auditor-Accountant III of the Auditor's Office will leave a vacuum in the County's institutional knowledge of Property Tax Administration. Janet is willing to come back to work for the County after retirement on a part-time basis to complete the training of one of the other recently hired Auditor-Accountants in the Office. Current law requires retired annuitants to wait a period of 180-Days prior to rehire as extra-help. The County Auditor-Controller is requesting the Board of Supervisors adopt Resolution requesting from CalPERS an exception from the 180-Day waiting period due to Janet's very specialized skills and expertise in California Property Tax administration.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
1.) Adopt Resolution No. ____, pursuant to Califoria Government Code 21224, requesting that CalPERS allow an exception from the 180-Day waiting period for extra help retired annuitants.
2.) Direct Human Resources Staff to email the properly executed and signed resolution along with the other documents required by CalPERS to consider the exception request.
