CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Behavioral Health Department adult clients with serious mental illness sometimes require board and care (B&C) residential treatment services as a part of their ongoing treatment plan. This contract allows for the provision of residential treatment services. San Benito County does not have this type of resource available within our local community. Currently we meet some of our needs for this level of care through this contractor who operates two (2) facilities located in Merced County. The two facilities offer Board & Care level of care. The clients placed at this level of care are usually placed pursuant to the authority of LPS conservatorship due to the client’s inability to provide for food, clothing and shelter as a result of mental illness. The lengths of stay are generally six months or longer. Some clients have been able to reside at these facilities on a long term basis as opposed to higher levels of care. The cost of placement at the facility is funded with the client’s Social Security (SSI) benefits and mental health realignment funds.
(3) OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT: Clients while in placement at this contract facility receive ongoing MH services through a contract we have with Merced County Behavioral Health. Our clients are then assured a seamless continuum of mental health services as they transition to lower level of care facilities.
