BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Vacancy due to a resignation requires appointment of Directors to the San Benito Resource Conservation District by the San Benito County Board of Supervisors pursuant to resolution 2006-1 passed, adopted and presented to San Benito County on Aug. 4, 2006. One director resigned prior to their term ending. The new Director has been recommended for appointment by SBRCD Board of Directors per Res. No. 2013-4.
RCDs work closely with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in responding to soil, water and wildlife management needs of local land users. RCDs are managed by non-salaried directors who reside within the District and are familiar with local resource issues. RCDs have no enforcement or regulatory functions and receive no local tax dollars. The SBRCD has been working with local landowners on a volunteer basis in San Benito County on conservation improvements since 1961. The SBRCD is currently managed by five Directors who are appointed by the San Benito County Board of Supervisors. District activities are funded via grants and therefore the annual budget varies depending on the grants awarded at the time.
