BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Lidia Gamulin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is a private practitioner who is skilled in providing Interpreter Services Training. Because the State Dept. of Healthcare Services (DHCS) requires County Mental Health Plans to offer services in any language, it is recognized that it is inevitable that all county mental health service providers will encounter a need for language interpreter services. The San Benito County Behavioral Health Department most typically requires interpreter services when professional level clinical or medication provider staff delivers services requiring a Spanish language speaker to provide interpreting assistance. Even though our department typically can provide multi-lingual staff to interpret, the DHCS recognizes and requires that for clinical services to be delivered appropriately using interpreters that specialized interpreter training is required.
This contractor can offer the intensive level of interpreter training that meets the cultural competency requirements for DHCS required interpreter training. The comprehensive training offered through this contractor will involve the contractors provision of a 4 (four) day training series and additional follow-up sessions for up to 60 (sixty) participants. Because all county mental health plans are required to have this type of training and this training can also be beneficial to other San Benito County Departments, we are able to defray the cost of this training by requiring an enrollment fee for all other county staff that will attend this training.
