This item was approved on 3/22/16 agenda, but the Board is asked approve again with the class specification attached, which was inadvertently omitted from the last Board packet. 

As part of the adoption of the FY 2015/16 budget for San Benito County, the Board approved a re-allocation of a Deputy District Attorney III to an Assistant District Attorney. There is no current class specification in existence for this new position and as such both the attached class specification and a salary range require approval by your Board.  

This MEG designated position reports directly to the District Attorney and will spend considerable time overseeing the day to day operations of the office as well as also carrying a caseload. This will provide the District Attorney the ability focus on some of the needed longer range and more strategic issues facing the office.

This position will be recruited from within the District Attorney's Office (absent other vacancies) and will not result in additional personnel.

The proposed salary range for this position is $42.22 - $56.61 per hour. This sets the salary at the same rate of that of Assistant County Counsel. Note that the salary range for County Counsel and District Attorney are also identical.

This has been discussed with the District Attorney; MEG, and County Counsel who are in agreement with this recommendation.
