Adopt Resolution urging the state to provide new sustainable funding for state and local transportation infrastructure.
SBC FILE NUMBER: 119
RESOLUTION NO. 2016-20
AGENDA SECTION:
CONSENT AGENDA
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Based on the need for sustainable funding for local transportation infrastructure, the County Administrative Officer recommends adoption of the attached resolution.
In response to the Governor's Proclamation calling an Extraordinary Sesson on Transportation and Infrastructure, the California State Association of Counties is encouraging counties and cities to pass this general resolution so legislative leaders know that local government - San Benito County - has funding needs to maintain critical transportation infrastructure.
San Benito County is currently evaluating all road conditions through the use of a newly implemented Pavement Management System so that the total dollar amount needed to maintain and improve currents roads is understood and attainable. In analyzing the mere number of miles San Benito County is responsible for maintaining, it is likely that new local funding sources would need to be coupled with increasing funding from the State to supplement all road improvement projects in San Benito County.
